About

Hi there, I’m Amber!

I’m a writer, short film maker (fancy way of saying YouTuber) and a farmsteader, meaning I homestead for my family first and then sell anything I have that is extra. I like to document what it takes to live in an intentional sort of way here in rural Ontario, Canada, even though sometimes life can go sideways… but that’s just part of the journey, nothing in perfect, especially on a farm.

I have a no-dig and rather chaotic way of gardening, but in all its chaos I sure get a ton of abundance from my garden; enough for my family of five to enjoy through the winter months. On top of gardening, I also preserve, so we get to enjoy the bounty longer!

I like to talk about all of the above and more, including: simple and slow practices, thrifting, learning skills and community sufficiency (because no human is an island).

Be sure to catch up on what I’m up to on my YouTube channel where I post weekly (Fairly Rooted)  and my Instagram (@fairlyrooted) Thank you for being here!
